VACANCY: Senior Loans Officer

The Barbados Workers Union Co-operative Credit Union Limited (BWUCCUL) is an organization whose main objective is to improve the socio- economic well-being of its members. We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, industry professional to join our team as a Senior Loans Officer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in attaining established BWUCCUL goals and providing leadership, training and support to the Loan team.

Key Duties

  • Be a lending officer.
  • Adjudicate loan applications within set limits.
  • Identify sales opportunities for Credit Union products and services within the residential and business community.
  • Oversee the activities of the Loans team.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of appropriate credit policies, systems, procedures and practices.
  • Ensure the continued overall quality of the loan portfolio.
  • Provide support to the Credit Manager
  • Participate in sales events as necessary.
  • Prepare and present loan recommendations to the Loans Committee and/or Senior Management.
  • Meet loan production, business development, credit analysis, client relationship, teamwork, and continual improvement goals

Qualifications and experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Banking and Finance, Investments and Wealth Management or a related field.
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in a similar role in a financial institution.
  • Experience in business and mortgage lending would be an asset.

  • Highly proficient in advanced Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Relationship building/Planning/Organizing/Closing Sales
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

Typically, the first interview takes approximately 30-45 minutes. In addition, we may request some additional online or in-person testing as a part of the interview process.
